Introducing Android 4.0

Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is the latest version of the Android platform for phones, tablets, and more. It builds on the things people love most about Android — easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets, and deep interactivity — and adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing.

Simple, Beautiful, Useful
Refined, evolved UI
Focused on bringing the power of Android to the surface, Android 4.0 makes common actions more visible and lets you navigate with simple, intuitive gestures. Refined animations and feedback throughout the system make interactions engaging and interesting. An entirely new typeface optimized for high-resolution screens improves readability and brings a polished, modern feel to the user interface.

Virtual buttons in the System Bar let you navigate instantly to Back, Home, and Recent Apps. The System Bar and virtual buttons are present across all apps, but can be dimmed by applications for full-screen viewing. You can access each application's contextual options in the Action Bar, displayed at the top (and sometimes also at the bottom) of the screen.

Multitasking is a key strength of Android and it's made even easier and more visual on Android 4.0. The Recent Apps button lets you jump instantly from one task to another using the list in the System Bar. The list pops up to show thumbnail images of apps used recently — tapping a thumbnail switches to the app.

Motorola Droid 4 – Unleash the 4G LTE

Do you guys remember the Motorola Droid 3 that was launched last summer? It had a slick design with a dual-core processor. However, Motorola seemed to have overlooked the important feature of 4G LTE. Sadly, the product could not sustain itself in the market. However, a gap of seven months and voila! The Droid 4 arrives!
Motorola attempts to recover its losses and set a benchmark in the Android-crazy mobile world with its latest product – the Droid 4.

Features

1.2 GHz dual core processor
Runs on Android 2.3.6 (Gingerbread)
8 MP camera with LED flash
Supports 32 GB micro SD with in-built 16 GB memory
Virtual SWYPE QWERTY slider keyboard
Ups

The Droid 4 packs a solid LTE, has a bigger battery life compared to its predecessor and even includes a front-end camera. It has a larger display yet a lighter weight as compared to the Droid 3. Motorola’s Droid 4 includes a dual-core processor with a QWERTY keyboard.

Downs

It has a terrible Unlock/Standby button which is quite difficult to place. The non-removable battery makes it difficult to upgrade the battery size. A few permanent buttons at the bottom edge of Gingerbread add to the strange interface. It doesn’t have the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich, instead it runs on Gingerbread.

Overall, it’s an amazing phone with an awesome display. The images are sharp and clear. A 1.2 GHz dual-core processor combined with a smooth slide keyboard and the added experience of 4G LTE! Only people who don’t like to carry around bulky phones might find its appeal quite a bit overrated. But Motorola has done a great job nevertheless and this gadget is sure to be a winner!

Archos Child Pad

Like father, like son, or so the saying goes. Most young parents would have most probably gone through this particular conversation with their little ones – as to why daddy and/or mummy can carry an iPad and an iPhone, but little Jeremy cannot. The reason is simple – how can a little kid know about good stewardship? Surely there will be mistakes along the way, and replacing a broken iPad is definitely an expensive mistake to make. Not only that, most tablets do come with adult-centric apps (obviously), with very little (or no) attention being paid to apps and programs that appeal to kids.

Well, Archos sees this particular niche and has decided to step up the game by announcing the Archos Child Pad. This 7″ tablet will run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and is said to deliver a safe, fun, full tablet experience – all for just $129 a pop.
